HTM 02-01 recommends servicing terminal units on a regular basis. However, in addition to such planned preventative maintenance, there will be occasions when more immediate work will be required to maintain the terminals' functions.
Although HTM 02-01 does allow some flexibility in varying maintenance frequencies and hence increasing cost savings by adoption of a less frequent service schedule, there are distinct advantages to be gained by training in-house staff to both maintain and carry out emergency repairs to terminal units, rather than contract in a third party maintenance organisation.
Savings on call-out and planned maintenance charges and wasted gas can be considerable.
